There is much to like about Puran Software’s application DiskFresh. You will like the very simple interface, the useful Help file, the fact that the application can make your HDD more reliable for storing data, the fact that the application detects and informs you about bad sectors, the fact that it does all this while Windows is running, and last but not least, the fact that DiskFresh is free to use for private and non-commercial use.

DiskFresh is compatible with 32 as well as 64-bit Windows editions. The application provides support for all Windows editions from Windows XP and 2003 up to Windows 7 and 8. To install DiskFresh on a PC powered by one of these Windows editions you will have to download an installer, run it, and then follow the instructions presented by a setup wizard.

Figuring out the interface is not a difficult task. There’s nothing complicated about it. All your drives are listed in the panel at the top; buttons for the DiskFresh features are presented below this panel.
Figuring out how to use the application though, that may prove to be a bit challenging. And that is why DiskFresh comes with a useful Help file that provides you with all the information you need to figure out the application's functionality.

If you want to make one of your drives more reliable for storing data, just select that drive from the DiskFresh interface, click the refresh button, and wait for the application to do its job. Click on Refresh and the application will refresh the drive’s signal, reading and writing each sector. If you don’t want any writing, check the Read Only Mode box. If you don’t want to refresh the whole drive, if you just want to refresh a part of it, use the Refresh Range feature.

DiskFresh does its job while the Windows operating system is running. Any time you want, you can pause or stop DiskFresh.

DiskFresh is free for private and non-commercial use.

DiskFresh is free, it has a simple interface, it is not that hard to use, and it works as advertised. I don’t see what’s not to like about it.

Pros

DiskFresh works with 32 and 64-bit Windows editions; installing the application is an effortless task. The DiskFresh interface is very simple. There’s a handy Help file that helps you figure out the functionality. DiskFresh turns your HDD into a more reliable storage device. This application is free for home use.

Cons

None that I could think of.
